Founded: 1892 · Ground: Anfield
Liverpool were created in 1892 after a dispute between Everton and the owner of Anfield, which left the ground without a tenant. John Houlding formed a new club to fill it, and the rest followed from there.
The Reds have won the English league title 20 times, which puts them level at the top with Manchester United, and they have six European Cup and Champions League wins. Their anthem, You’ll Never Walk Alone, and the noise on the Kop have become part of English football culture. Anfield holds about 61,000 after its latest expansion.
