Founded: 1899 · Ground: Camp Nou
Barcelona were founded in 1899 by a group led by the Swiss businessman Joan Gamper. The club’s motto, Més que un club, means more than a club, and it reflects the role Barça has played in Catalan identity.
Barça have won the Champions League five times and La Liga more than two dozen times. Their academy, La Masia, produced Lionel Messi, Xavi and Andrés Iniesta, and more recently Lamine Yamal. The club’s home, Camp Nou, has been undergoing a large rebuild.
