England A will play a four-day game on their England A tour of India this winter, as part of the preparation for next summer’s Women’s Ashes. The tour runs through November and December and also has three T20s and three 50-over matches.
The senior England team faces another winter with little international cricket. Their home summer finished with a 3-0 win over Ireland in September, and no other fixtures are scheduled until after Christmas.
The tour
The T20s begin in Pune on 30 November. The 50-over games follow, and the four-day match is at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Eleven players in the squads have played for England before. They include fast bowlers Issy Wong and Lauren Filer and left-arm spinner Tilly Corteen-Coleman. All-rounders Mady Villiers, Charis Pavely and Jodi Grewcock are there too, along with wicketkeeper-batter Kira Chathli and seamer Grace Ballinger. Wong and Grewcock are named in all three squads.
Seamer Ryana Macdonald-Gay is in both white-ball squads. Top-order batter Grace Scrivens is in the 50-over and four-day groups.
Batter Davina Perrin and fast bowler Cassidy McCarthy have joined England’s performance programme. Perrin is recovering from injury, so she will not travel to India. McCarthy is not part of the tour either.
What comes next
England are due to play three T20s and three ODIs against Sri Lanka, though the dates are not confirmed. The first Women’s Champions Trophy, a T20 event, takes place in India in February. A series against West Indies follows in April and could include a Test match, but those dates are also not final.
Some players have signed with Australia’s Women’s Big Bash League. The Women’s Premier League in India will also be played before the 2027 home season starts.
The Ashes begin with a four-day Test at Headingley on 27 June. The series has used a multi-format setup since 2013. England reached the final of this year’s Women’s T20 World Cup under Charlotte Edwards and Nat Sciver-Brunt. They want to win the Ashes back after a 16-0 defeat in Australia in 2025.
