Garnacho deal in doubt as Aston Villa weigh their options

Villa may pull out of a permanent move for the on-loan Chelsea winger if his form doesn't lift, according to Football Insider.

Aston Villa could walk away from a permanent deal for on-loan Chelsea winger Alejandro Garnacho if his form doesn’t improve, according to a report from Football Insider. The claim is unconfirmed, and neither club has commented in the reports.

The 22-year-old Argentine is spending the season at Villa on loan, with an agreement in place to make the switch permanent. Football Insider says Villa now have doubts about following through and will think about pulling out unless his performances pick up. That would leave Chelsea with a winger to plan around again, and Villa looking elsewhere for attacking options.

Other loan decisions in focus

Garnacho’s situation is one of several across Europe where a loan move could become permanent. Marca reports that Liverpool are ready to use their 55m euro (£46m) option to buy Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo. The condition is that the 27-year-old Uruguay international keeps up the impressive form he has shown so far.

In Spain, Sky Sports Germany says Atletico Madrid are open to activating a 25m euro (£21m) option to sign Canada forward Jonathan David from Juventus. The 26-year-old is currently on loan, and no final decision has been taken.

Atletico are also among the clubs said to be chasing Brighton midfielder Diego Gomez, along with AC Milan. Teamtalk reports that Brighton won’t sell the 23-year-old Paraguayan in January.

Sancho and United in the headlines

Free agent Jadon Sancho, 26, wants to meet Getafe’s manager before deciding whether to join the Spanish club on a deal until the end of the season, the Telegraph reports.

The same paper says candidates in the running to replace Michael Carrick as Manchester United manager believe the dressing room is “out of control” and that players “talk too much”.

At Real Madrid, Marca reports that the future of Brazilian forward Endrick, 20, remains uncertain. He could leave on loan in January, with AC Milan and Roma interested, even though manager Jose Mourinho recently ruled that out. Bild says Germany defender Antonio Rudiger, 33, is fully focused on Real despite links with Tottenham. Sky Sports Germany reports that Spain forward Dani Olmo, 28, has no plans to leave Barcelona amid interest from Bayern Munich.

None of these moves has been confirmed by the clubs involved. The January transfer window is the next point at which several of them could be settled.
